Well it seems I have been a little slow at updating things for a while. We have been very busy but that’s no excuse not to find the time. We have a very full life with visitors staying and all the activities we do. I have joined the gym and Matt has been picked to play soccer for the first 11 at school. A great achievement as no other junior pupils play for the team. He is pleased as punch as you can well imagine.
We had great fun on Sunday as we all played in a children’s golf competition. They had to be partnered by an adult. As we have 2 children one of them had to draw the short straw and partner me! Hmmm they both played the martyr and offered to partner me but it was decided that as Tom was the youngest he’d play with his dad. We assumed, wrongly, that Matt would be the better player. We had forgotten that due to 2 cadet camps Matt had had less lessons than Tom. It was great fun though and we will start playing more as a family. As it turned out I played really well, a fluke of course but I enjoyed it anyway!

Cycle Behind the Mayor
After the triathlon in the morning there was the “Cycle Behind the Mayor” event to be held. This is a nationwide competition held to see which town can get the most people riding 2km behind their local mayor. This appealed enormously to Tom, being very community spirited, so we all went along to offer support. Our next door neighbour was in charge of arranging the event and it was good to support her. They came for Sunday dinner after and we all had a great time. Very hot, tiring but very enjoyable day.
Great Community Event
All sorts people turned up for the event. There was even a famous basketball team there. They later went on to do a coaching session for the kids and then played a match for all to watch. Tom and Ian went along to this, Matt had had enough by this time and returned to his cave. Me, I went back to the kitchen to prepare a lovely roast dinner. Yum!!
Tom Completed a Triathlon!!
Tom took part in his first Triathlon today. They had to swim 2 lengths of the pool, cycle 2km and finish off with a 1km run. We loved watching him and he enjoyed it tremendously. There are 2 more being held in the near future and he is very keen to take part. He does so much swimming in school and out of school since we have been here he’s coming on in leaps and bounds.
